About Me

Why I became a psychologist?

Hi there, I’m Damini Reddi. While I am a registered counselling psychologist, you can think of me as a mentor in mindfulness and a massive supporter of self-love through self-care.

I chose to enter this profession through my very own personal struggle with depression and anxiety. I first began experiencing a deep sensation of sadness when I was 16 years old. Combined with external and internal pressures, I found myself desperately looking for understanding and comfort. Unfortunately, my depression and anxieties were met with judgement and contempt. I felt suffocated by the lack of knowledge and stigma around what I was feeling. Therefore, I turned to psychology for a way to cope.

What Makes Me Different?

I enjoy working in collaboration with my clients to understand the nature of the difficulties they experience. My priority is in ensuring that every client feels safe, supported and heard. I am passionate about helping my clients become more self-aware by understanding the ways in which their thoughts, emotions and behaviours come together to create their unique realities. Through psychotherapy, I assist my clients in realizing their full potential, highlighting their strengths, and encouraging a greater sense of life satisfaction and overall wellbeing.

Training

Working towards becoming a psychologist and engaging in my own personal therapy has helped me accomplish two very important things. Firstly, it has assisted me in making meaning of my own experiences. Secondly, it has enabled me to ensure that when others seek understanding and comfort, their need can be met in a way that helps them grow and flourish.

My training has exposed me to several psychotherapeutic modalities including psychodynamic theory, cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT) and solution-focused therapy (SFT). I take an integrative approach when formulating and developing a therapeutic intervention.
